I have just visited hv re: sons sore hand. Thinks it is impetigo which wouldnt surprise me as ds1 just finished school but newsletters there were warning of it last week. How come baby son has it though and not son at school?? Anyone know anything about this? I know I may seem ignorant but thought this was a "dirty" thing. Any advice great whilst waiting on doc calling with appointment

Hi TB, Impetigo is very contagious and someone stroking his hand in the playground could pass on the infection. It is not a dirty thing its just a skin infection like any other. Your older son may develop it or may already have some resistance to it. Don't worry about it just treat it and go back to GP if it doesn't get better

Your older son could also just be a carrier and could pass the infection on and not develop any signs of it himself. Although it is a pain the best thing to do is have everyone use seperate towels...soaps etc to stop the infection spreading around the house. Also boil towels as it kills infection. Having said that..our whole family ended up with it a few years back and I was extremely careful but docs will give you cream and that to sort it out.
