metallic taste what could it be???

for the past few days I have a metallic taste in my mouth, can't get rid of it. I've used mouth washes, tried chewing on different herbs but nope it's still there. It's putting me off my food.
I'm not sick feel fine (except for the strange taste in mouth), definitely totally utterly not pregnant, nothing wrong with my teeth or gums ie no bleeding when brushing or pain....

Any ideas what it could be please...???

fuzzywuzzy, get a pregnancy test. Somehow, I dunno how it happened, but I think one little sperm made it you know.

Are you taking any medication? Some antibiotics and some blood pressure medication can leave you with a metallic taste. It can also be caused by gingivitis or gum infections.

Sssandy if I am I'm going to have to have to find out how on earth one falls pg...The last two times it required unprotected sex...... you lot are incorrigible (sp?).

Betcha I'm not I've probably got some exotic metallic tasting in the mouth type disease.... Ok looks like I'll be shopping for a test tomorrow then

I'd just had my period too funnily enough, had the metallic taste and was definitely pregnant

No I'm not on any medications, not even vitamin type things....It's driving me insane I've even gone off chocolate, there's a family sized fruit and nut bar looking mournfully at me, and I can't bring myself to eat it....

If you were pregnant, which of course you are not, no way, would that be ok?

I get this when pregnant, and I also get some pregnancy symptoms after a very heavy period - so could it just be that?

if not some sort of gut infection? do you have bellyache/wind/bad breath?

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 19:55

Yes it would be fine (although I am not no way flipping way). My husband would quite like his own cricket team as it happens...

I sometimes get this just before either getting mouth ulcers or tonsillitis - start dosing on echinacea...

I too thought there was no chance I was PG as I had just had what I thought was my AF. Turns out it was implantation bleeding - which can happen at about the time you expect your AF. I was really confused as to why my boobs were so tender, but when anyone suggested I was PG I was scoffing and muttering about immaculate conceptions! . Of course I was PG - DD now a year old .

so, when you say you're definately not pregnant, I take it you mean you haven't stood downwind from any males in the last 6 weeks? Because if so, you could be you know.

(think about it - you don't want chocolate )

SP at last a voice of reason, strangely my period was really heavy this month. But no gum problems, or bad breath or anything......

I've not gone off chocolate I want it I really do, it just tastes utterly foul as my mouth tastes like I've been sucking on piece of metal for several hours...which I haven't.

Hmph spoke too soon no reasonable voice from SP's direction either.... ermmm could an implantation bleed be a really really heavy period????? Not that I'm pregnant in any shape or form you understand....

I would say either pregnant or maybe yu have had a metal filling fall out - it can happen without you knwoing it and without any obvious dental pain. If i were you, I would do a pg test and then book an appt with your dentist (in that order).
