Also will you always have an asthma attack, when you have a flare up? Or will it rumble on for a couple of weeks then go away with medication?

Was diagnosed in January this year with late onset asthma and I am having a flare up at the moment. Feel like there is something in my chest and a tickly throat and dry cough etc. Have upped Simbicort.

Just really trying to understand it all a bit more and how to manage it.

Thank you Smile.

Hi Sparkly - i'm asthmatic and the wheeze is my first signal.

It's really difficult to be specific with signs as everyone has their own particular triggers, ie i am allergic to cats and if i'm too close to one i know i'm going to be really ill - have been hospitalised on a few occasions because of our little furry friends.

I would ensure you are properly on top of your medication and check your peak flow regularly. Try not to be too alarmed by it because stress can also lead to flares. However, do be conscious in this weather, if i move quickly from hot to cold or cold to hot (ie when i walk quickly from the cold into a hot tube station) that is a massive trigger for me.

Hope you are ok and if you are worried, to to your GP and ask for a consultation with the asthma nurse xxx
