Found lump. It makes me feel sick when I press it but I don't know if that is sheer fear. Phoned docs. Next available apt is in a week. Don't know if I can wait that long feeling like this.

Poor you, it's a horrid feeling - all that not knowing and imagining the worst, as one does (I have, several times).

Is there a walk-in surgery at your GPs? I would try and get a cancellation, just for sanity's sake.

That said, the vast majority of boob lumps are harmless - so you have odds massively on your side of it being nothing scary. Which won't stop you worrying, but it's true.

WHenever I've had a lump to worry about, I've gone and hung out on the Tamoxigang thread - the ladies there know all there is to know about boobs, and more, and are very good at paw-holding while you wait Smile

Sorry to hear that. I found a lump and it was cancer BUT statistics are on your side, it is most likely NOT malign.

If it is, hopefully you have caught it quickly and they will move fast. I found the system was quick and efficient - one week to appointment at breast clinic, one week for diagnosis and then a lumpectomy a few weeks later. I had to have chemo and radiotherapy but only because my tumour was quite fast growing and aggressive.

Even if you do have something nasty, hopefully it can be removed by surgery and won't have spread.

If the worst comes to the worst, remember you are going to feel shell shocked and sick and frightened. There are lots of people in real life and on line who can talk to you and reassure you and hold your hand. You are not alone.

I will keep my fingers crossed it is just a cyst but even if it isn't, the chances are good that you will come out the other side.

This has happened to me a few times,I know is it a very frightening experience, but on each occasion my lumps have been nothing to worry about. See if you can get an earlier appointment just to put your mind at rest.

My mum has had a few lumps that have turned out to be cysts. Can you get an emergency appointment if you phone in the morning? It does say on the NHS website to see a GP as soon as you can so maybe use that with the receptionists?
