Has anyone else had their flu jab yet? I just had mine yesterday and now I feel really achey, feel like all my glands are up, am bunged up and had a rather urgent trip to the loo sad also wierdly feel like some one has punched me in the left side of my face (had jab in left arm and that is also v sore!) Is this normal? I had them in previous years and been fine!

I had mine at end of Sept and apart from my arm being a little tender at the injection site, I have had no adverse effects. This is the 1st time I have had the flu jab. DD had hers at the same time and has also been fine. She has the jab every year and has never had a reaction.

I don't normally bother (as I am fit and healthy) because it only protects against one strain of flu anyway, so may not stop you getting flu plus I am a carer and having flu would be the only chance I would ever get to have a week in bed but GP/Practice nurse are always on at me to have it because I am DDs main carer.

So's mine - Day 10! I don't think this course of ABs is going to clear up the infection

eatyourveg Wed 16-Oct-13 13:11:18

My arm is still hurting if I lie on my side in bed. This is the 5th day!

I didn't feel the prick either - at the time. The aftermath has been horrendous.

Seems you've had a bad reaction too eatyourveg

I had mine yesterday and I feel as ill as I do normally, so no change! I did have a reaction, so have taken an antihistamine.

I had mine on Wednesday and I feel fine. My arm wasn't sore at all. I only have it because I work in a Doctor's surgery and the Nurse is really gentle. I didn't even feel a prick grin

DD aged 3 had the nasal flu "jab" and was fine.
DS aged 9 has got a large swollen area on his arm. Had a temperature in night with headache and feeling achy. He has never had a reaction before.

eatyourveg Sun 13-Oct-13 08:35:22

almost 24 hours post jab now and woke in night with temp of 38.2 feeling rather sick. Arm heavy this morning and feeling flushed but no aches and pains so hopefully will be fine

sorry you 've had a rough ride of it wetaugust I think I'd take my chances too if I had a reaction like yours

wetaugust Sat 12-Oct-13 20:33:18

So, area around around injection site about 6" x 4" is swollen, red and throbbing. On constant paracetamol.

Hadto go to NHS walk-in centre as pain kept me awake. It's infected.
Now on antibiotics.

Still feeling quite shite sad

Next year I'll take my chances with the 'flu.

I've got an appointment for next Saturday to have the flu seriously considering cancelling it !

If I wasn't pregnant I definitely wouldn't even consider it. I had flu once, 19 years ago... is it worth the gamble?

Plus3 Sat 12-Oct-13 18:19:10

Had mine on Wednesday - arm felt a bit bruised if I touched it (so I didn't grin) all fine otherwise

eatyourveg Sat 12-Oct-13 18:15:17

I'm 7 hours post jab and so far so good - fingers crossed

timidviper Sat 12-Oct-13 17:57:17

Oh crap. Mine is Monday, something to look forward to sad

noisytoys Sat 12-Oct-13 17:56:07

DD had the flu spray up her nose in school. Never again it knocked her out for a week she isn't a sicky child next year we will take our chances and she'll probably be fine

Allfurcoatandnoknickers Sat 12-Oct-13 17:52:55

I had mine yesterday lunchtime. Felt ok until lunch today then fell asleep on sofa for an hour. Feel headachey and generally crap.
Weather so abysmal I don't mind hot toddies, blankets and a book.....

2old2beamum Sat 12-Oct-13 12:28:41

OhWhatAPalaver Thu 10-Oct-13 21:59:05

WetAugust that sounds awful! Hope you're feeling better today. I have spoken to a few others who have had bad reactions to this year's vaccine. Get well soon!

eatyourveg Thu 10-Oct-13 14:12:08

mine is saturday - hope I don't come down with anything, am already a bit stuffed up

WetAugust Thu 10-Oct-13 11:54:12

Temperature of 38.9 yesterday. Very shivery and shaky and spent most of the dayy in bed.

Temperature has subsided this morning but arm is very painful, right down to the elbow.

Never had such a strong recation to a vaccine before.

WetAugust Wed 09-Oct-13 16:01:00

Woke up feeling sick and flu-y. Vommitted 4 times and went back to bed until 3pm. Arm is extremely painful. Have raised temperature.
Am taking 2 x paracetamol and 2 x ibuprofen every 4 hours.

OhWhatAPalaver Wed 09-Oct-13 12:01:31

This is the first time I have been ill after having it and it has put me off having it again! My dad is diabetic and he refuses them too.

NoComet Wed 09-Oct-13 11:51:03

DD1 refuses to have them (she has very mild asthma so is on the list).

They make her feel grotty and her arm hurt enough to make it hard to sleep for several days.

She firmly states that having had flu once in 15 years (aged 2), she'll take her chances.

Sparklingbrook Wed 09-Oct-13 11:25:31

I woke up with backache. confused Actually I feel a bit achy generally.

OhWhatAPalaver Wed 09-Oct-13 11:13:20

Still rough today sad is anyone else the same? I'm wondering whether to ring gp as I have couple of those weird urticaria spots near where I had jab.
