Hi,

I am going to make an appt with my GP but in the interim was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what might be causing it?

Its been going on for a few days and i just have this constant nausea. It is worse after eating and drinking and first thing in the morning when i have been retching.

Am having some bloating spells and tummy discomfort, burping more than usual, and increased flatulence (sorry if TMI).

Will the GP just prescribe anti sickness meds, ir will they do blood tests and refer me on?

Have managed to convince myself it's ovarian cancer!! I have recently gone through a lot of stress as had to have a breast lump biopsied and mammogram which was thankfully clear.

Thanks in advance!

If its only been a few days, odds are its a virus and you've just been 'lucky' and had it mildly Smile

There's a lot of that vague tummy upset stuff around. Alternatively, you could have some reflux which can cause all of the above.

But GP is always a good idea, do make an appointment! And hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, the appt isnt till the 19th but if it hasnt gone by the end of this week i will try and bring it forward.

Googling those symptoms brings up cancer, i am very health anxious anyway!

It could be anything!

I had similar symptoms and it was an infection in my intestine after swimming in a lake in Austria - caused by bacteria.

I think those links you are naughtily googling (but I speak as an old hand at googling and scaring myself silly Blush) will be referring to symptoms that have gone on for a lot longer than a few days.

Extremely likely to be a bug!

I've had this a couple of times - it goes on for a few days (enough to worry you!) and definitely gets worse after eating. I never got to the bottom of it but guess it's just a mild tummy bug. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you all for your replies, eating mints is helping. My period is also due which might be exasperating it

You're not on the pill (or some other hormonal contraception) are you? It can cause nausea in those prone that way.

But I think random virus is the most likely explanation and it'll probably disappear soon.

If it's really bothering you, you can buy anti-emetics over the counter - just look for/ask for travel sickness stuff.

Not on the pill. Didn't feel so bad last night and thought I was getting better then woke up at 530 and couldn't get back to sleep as I felt so sick and gave felt same since then :(

Probably just a bug.

Have you tried sipping peppermint tea? Very good for nausea.

Report
eurochick · 11/09/2013 10:36

I have the same. I assume it's a virus and it will pass.

Sometimes excess stomach acid can cause nausea. Maybe try some Rennie or gaviscon.

Might be start of an ulcer - I am sitting here with a low grade fever, awaiting drs call re bloods and I'm wondering if I have the same thing as I don't feel like eating.

I had severe nausea for 8 days a few weeks ago. It turned out I had worms Shock

Mine's gone now and I think it was possibly hormonal/ PMT related

I had this. Was cos I was working too hard (9am - midnight everyday for 2 months), was under a lot of stress and was eating very badly (i.e. not much food, gobbled down extremely quickly).

It went away when I changed projects Grin

I sympathise though, I have nausea atm but it is caused by being pregnant. It's horrible and is also stopping me sleeping.

Still feeling rubbish. Hopefully GP will be able to help this week. Would à tummy bug last as long as a week?

Could be gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining). I had this a few years back and the main problem was nausea (especially when stomach was empty) and indigestion. Took a few months to settle down, but has never recurred. Doctor gave me lanzoprazole (acid inhibitor) to give my stomach chance to heal. Go to the doctors, fingers crossed they'll get to the bottom of it fairly quickly.

Labyrinthitis? Stress/anxiety? Helicobacter? IBS can also cause.

I've got the same bloating, nausea, pain in my stomach, struggling to eat. I also convinced myself I had cervical cancer. Have been to drs today and said it was upper intestinal pain and prescribed some tablets. I've got to go back in two weeks if it doesn't ease. He said It could be pregnancy symptoms too if the tablets don't work but its too early to test. Hopefully yours is nothing to worry about.

Hi TheonlyoneIknow,

I know this is an old thread but I wondered what was your diagnosis? I have the same symptoms, the constant nausea and I also had a mammogram recently. I hope you found oùt what was causing your sickness. It is so awful.

Hey did you ever find out what it was?

@nermal37 @missdee100

Hello have you guys been experiencing this nasuea too? I have had it for 4 weeks, constant nausea and increase in gas at both ends 🙈 the nausea seems to be better when I eat but comes back soon after. My appetite seems normal though and I have had a little constipation with it.

Just wondering if anyone has had anything similar
