Is it Normal for Consent to be signed 2 weeks before the Theatre Date and to have to take the Child with you?

At the hospital, which is miles away, and i need to be at college and i dont see the point in taking boyo off school.

Are they doing pre-op assesment ff? Dd's last surgery we signed consent at the out-patients appy two weeks before. As she's 12 she had to sign too.

They confirmed it all again on the day

He has been booked in the day before theatre for his pre op assessment. We are staying the night. Also he was assessed 2 months ago.

We've never done it 2 weeks before - maybe the day before, if we've been admitted then.

How old is he ff?

They're very keen to explain the procedures directly to them if old enough to understand. I think doing it before just gives them more time to answer any questions as it can be all a bit busy just beofre surgery especially with any pre-op bloods, tests etc. In our case it sort of went against us a bit as dd got all panicky about the risk side of things and having lots of time to think about it nearly didn't see it through.

i just dont underatand having to go two weeks before to sign a bloody form with him in tow, It's never happened before.

He is 5, he is used to hospital, thats not a probelm. He has been going since birth and has been operated on before.

All it is is a tooth extraction, he chipped one and they want to remove it as it is risky when you have a heart condition.

I go the day before so they can give him and e.c.g. and scan and make sure he's fit for the op.

But why does he have to come and sign the form with me, he's missed enough school.

I'm rining them now at the hosp.

Sorry for crappy writing, trying to get some workm done.

Does seem a bit odd then ff - probably just easier for them as opposed to you. He'll be getting his anti-b' cover for the endocarditis won't he - I seriously had to nag about dd's last time.

You had to nag for it!!!!!!!!!!! That's dreadful.

The reson is i have just found out that they have changed the lady doing the op and she needs to meet him. Simple enough.
