DD has a rash on her legs - should I be worried?

Hello there.

Have just put dd (14 months to bed) and noticed that she has a hot red rash on her legs. Looks like lots of little dots joined up. Blanches under pressure so not meningitis. She doesn't seem unhappy though. We haven't used a new washing powder or anthing so it's not that. Any ideas? Do I need to call the Dr? Or should I just keep an eye overnight?

Thanks in advance.

I think probably you should keep an eye on her. does she have a temperature?

lots of viruses cause rashes, some with no other symptoms at all (eg rubella). I really wouldn't worry unless she starts scratching it or she develops some other symptoms. Maybe keep her away from pregnant women just in case.

Could be anything. A reaction to suncream? Early sign of an infection? 101 things it could be. See how she is tomorrow.

No temperature. The rash feels warm when I touch it, and she is a bit sleepy, but not vrying or whingeing like she does when she is very out of sorts....

Will keep an eye out. Just wanted to check that she wasn't going to implode overnight as DH is away and I always feel a bit more anxious on my own.

tbh there's lots of things it could be. ds, who is 8, had an odd rash last week on his legs. dr couldn't tell if viral or a reaction , he was oitherwise fine and it has gone but was itchy for a few days and spread to his ears and face. In your dd's case it may well be something like Roseola Infantum but worth keeping a close eye and checking for any other symptoms. Horrid when they are ill and you're alone though so hope she is better tomorrow.

Thanks ladies. She is sound asleep now. Still not hot on the forehead, but legs still red and warm. Will take her to the Drs if she is the same tomorrow.

DH is very calm and calming... I feel much more confident when he is here, which is a bit daft but I have got to get used to it!

Thanks for your support XXX
