Sadly, I don't think you're supposed to take anything that isn't homeopathic/herbal. ALthough I didn't realise that for the first 2 months of the summer that I was breastfeeding!

hi, you can definitely use nasal sprays and eyedrops. I was perscribed beconase spray and can't remember the drops. The spray is great but takes a few days to be effective.

Have you tried eating local honey? That's supposed to help and won't harm your baby.

Piriton used to be prescribed for morning sickness. Studies have not shown that piriton affects the unborn baby, but they haven't shown that it doesn't either.

I had very bad hayfever when I was pregnant, so much so that I had trouble breathing. The bloody people at the chemist could see the state I was in but refused to serve me anything. My gp was great though, she recommended piriton as it's one of the better known brands and therefore more research has been done on it.

If your hayfever is getting that bad, then tbh a piriton every now and then isn't going to do any harm. I took a total of 3 when I was pregnant with ds and I really beat myself up about it, but he was a big healthy baby when he was born, no obvious side-effects!

Oops, sorry didn't read it properly and thought you were still pregnant! I'd definitely have no qualms in taking one whilst breastfeeding, I should imagine the amount that gets passed into your breastmilk is absolutely minimal.

I took Piriton (prescribed by the doc) when I was pg last year and am assuming that it's ok when bf too, but i haven't been affected yet this year, so I'll have to wait and see...
