blushing a little bit putting this on t'internet, sure I will get over it.

Have developed a small tear at my anus, hurts to poo etc. Dr said put Sudocreme on it and it should clear up - problem is everytime it starts to feel better I need to poo again which opens it up and it hurts! Sudocrem, heal slightly, poo, pain, repeat.

How can I help it heal?! Going on holiday soon so really don't want it to get infected!

You could ask for GTN cream (expensive so they don't like to prescribe but totally great with minor headaches as a side effect). Might not be necessary but do ask.

Mainly, avoid constipation at all costs. Take lactulose to soften the stool until it is better, and eat beetroot and so on. Grin Fibrogel (?) is also good, but keeping the stool soft is v v v important.

Look after it because they can get worse and that is not nice.

Agree - orange juice is your friend - nothing too binding. Do whatever it takes to avoid having to strain.

I have a re occuring anal tear. GTN cream is brilliant but the headaches for me were a killer. I used to use it at night and then try and get to sleep before the headache kicked in. It really works. Go back to see your GP and ask them for some. Keep going back until they sort it for you. I eventually had surgery to sort mine but it still comes back if I've been constipated. Feels like I'm shitting steak knives!

Thanks very much - I will hit the OJ tonight, at the moment it's whisky. Will take a laxative before bedtime and drink alot of water.

I am keeping it clean and covered in sudocrem - washing after poo etc. Only problem is I'm in the middle of exams so no time to pop to the Drs! from what I've read they like to try and let them heal on their own anyway.
