Hi

This is something that's been causing a rift with dh for few years and I hate it as I never used to be so forgetful and lethargic.

Well after extensive blood tests and after convincing people I'm not a hypochondriac I have been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia which means I cannot absorb minerals and all the symptoms is my life including a weird tiredness where you are not really awake and knowing what you want to say but not coming out with it and having a fog so you live in a dream world.

So just wanted to share this as I've been undiagnosed for so long and I hope the treatment will change my life

You have just described me but my doctor said I was depressed. How did you finally get diagnosed? Ive been to my GP lots of times over the past 10 years with these symptoms and they ALWAYS test for anemia (I am naturally the colour of semiskimmed milk) but its always ok therefore I must be depressed. Did you have anyother symptoms?

Hi

Yes my iron levels are normal too. The test you need is for vitamin b12 which affects memory and mood etc. I also have an under active thyroid. I was so annoyed with myself for so long for being this way that I'm relieved that I've finally found a solution, hope I've helped.

They are also the symptoms of fibromyalgia.

I spent 15 years going to the gp and having endless blood tests for anemia and thyroid, all came back normal and no follow up was done to find out why i was so tired/forgetful etc.

I'm my experience the gp won't do anything unless you go in with a print out from Dr Google and telling them what you have.
