My cousin's in resus :-(

She's 30. She had a diseased kidney removed at birth and a kidney transplant of the remaining one at 8yo. She's now in resus fighting for her life with hyperkalaemia. This is the local A&E without a specific renal unit so the docs are liaising with her consultant's team at a London hospital by phone and Skype - she is too ill to be transferred. Does anyone have any experience of this? My auntie and mum are with you, she has no partner or kids, I've got a toddler at home so can't go. Keeping all phones free for news but worried sick.

I hope you get some reassurance from your visit. Transplant patients are very complex and there will likely be some ups and downs over the next few days so just keep your eyes on the longer term situation.

Hope she recovers soon.

She fought as hard as she could and the staff were wonderful but my beautiful cousin passed away yesterday afternoon following a second cardiac arrest and kidney failure. My aunt and uncle were with her. She was like my sister. There's only 5 years between us, we grew up together. I've been in floods for about 17 hours straight, made myself sick. It's so unjust, she's just 30. I saw her at about 2 yesterday and she looked like a tiny baby asleep swamped in machinery, so helpless. It's ripped the family apart. Thank you for the mn support
