How long is my throat likely to be swollen for?

Not an allergic reaction. I caught the sore throat bug that the kids had. In them it came out as full blown tonsilitis for 4 days, and a couple of extra days for the swelling to go down.

Mine was just a really sore throat, no white patches. I had a v sore throat for 4 days. Now it isn't sore, only my throat, over a week on, is still very red and swollen. It is disconcerting as it leaves me with a slight choking feeling constantly. or the feeling that someone is poking their finger down my throat.

It isn't swollen enough to worry about my breathing (but does make me snore like a devil - DH has taken to waking me up to tell me when it's bad - payback I think Grin ).

I'd like to see it gone now though and am wondering how much longer it is going to linger for?

I had something similar very recently - sore throat had gone by about day 6/7 but I did then have bad headaches for a couple of days (sorry if it is the same thing)...

About 10 days before I felt normal again to be honest. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. I have had a headache come and go from time to time too.
Fingers crossed it settles soon.

3 weeks! I hope it's gone before then.
Too much talking brings tears to my eyes and does make my throat ache again. I managed less than 2 chapters of reading 'The Host' to my DD at bedtime the other night, then couldn't go on and was sore the next day again.

I've got one more week off work/school before we go back to get better then as I talk CONSTANTLY in my job.
