Recurring BV - boric acid?

I have recurring BV and think I've probably had it now for 15 years or so but thought it was thrush and/or urine leakage. In the 6 months I have discovered the joys of Balance Active gel. Although the BV goes away sometimes for a few weeks once I have sex or a period or forget not to use soap a la minge, bingo I stink like Grimsby Docks again Grin.

Balance Active is good but costly. I was googling last night and came across people recommending boric acid which you buy in powder form and put into gelatin capsules and shove up once a day. I found some boric acid on amazon and it said "other people also bought geleatin capsules" so am thinking there must be some people out there using this method.

Anyone know of this treatment? Sounds like it seems to work but boric acid sounds so chemically I'm worried its dangerous? It's used to kill ants and cockroaches...

Any thoughts?
