Raging systemic thrush [sad]

Have had this for a month now, worst ever (think my levels were high anyway but only had an outbreak last month IYSWIM). Cracked corners of mouth (using Canesten but not healing), cracked hands and feet on and off, various other cracks you don't want to know about.

I took 2 rounds of oral Canesten last month which got rid of the worst of the vaginal thrush but I still seem to be overrun with it - GP has run some blood tests to rule out anaemia, thyroid probs etc, but on reflection I'm pretty sure it's thrush

Anyone else had similar? What can I do? I guess I need to sleep more and cut my sugar intake, but I need some more immediate advice, please.

Don't use canesten on the corners of your mouth - use daktacort. The chemist will advise that it shouldn't be used on your face, but GPs prescribe it for exactly that with the proviso that you don't use it for too long.

The other possible cause of cracked mouth (angular chelitis) is deficiency of some of the B vitamins - easily rememedied by taking a supplement - make sure it's yeast -free.

Stop eating sugar. Avoid refined carbs as much as you can.

Buy some 'Horopito Anise' from a UK site. It claims to be as effective as fluconazole, a commonly prescribed anti-fungal. It claims to have prevent the recurrence of thrush for longer.

The daktacort should work in a day or two. Also Canesten combi - pessary and tablet.

Also take zinc.

Cinnamon supplements will help a bit with blood- sugar control if that's borderline.

Itraconazole is good for hard to shift vaginal thrush. Not all thrush responds to fluconazole or clotrimazole.

Lactobacillus acidophalus can get it in holland and barrett works very well encourages good bacteria to grow which gets rid of yeasty thrush bacteria

have you been checked for diabetes? I had a friend with recurring thrush which turned out to be a symptom of type 1.

Hi, how are you feeling now? Has it gone? I have been battling thrush for nearly two years now and have had miconazole, fluconazole and clotrimazole. I have been told from the swabbing at the sexual clinic that it is definitely albicans, not glabrata. the funny thing is, all of the treatments work for a bit, but then it just comes back. Now I have just started taking itraconozole for 6 months and so far things have not immproved, but i am only 2 capsules in. the whole thing has been so stressful! I have spent a fortune on probiotics (optibac intimate health), and over the counter treatments but it hasn't really hit the nail on the head. In desperation I have begun to open capsules of the optibac probiotics and tip the flora straight onto my vagina to 'cut out the middle man'. Optibac has loads of rave reviews but until I can treat the root cause I think they will only have a cursory effect!
