Help! Swelling under right breast..

I know I need to check it out asap but it will take few days to get an appointment.. In the mean time - it is under the right breast,I noticed yesterday it looks like extra fold in the skin, slightly raised, follows the shape of he boob.Feels soft i.e. can't feel a lump as such but sort of fluid filled semi-circle.
Worrying bit is that I have been really unwell recently with a lot of stomach discomfort and pain on the right-side under the ribs (liver/gallbladder area). What can it be?

I don't think it will have anything to do with the pain in your tummy - tht could well be galls stones! Could the swelling be something to do with your bra? Do you wear underwire bras? I often get sore red patches under my breasts, this is because im quite a big girl though.

CAn you not make an "on the day" emergency appointment - not becaue i think is an emergency but it will stop you worrying if you can get it looked at tomorrow. I had a lump come up on the side of my breast, but it was very obvious like yours and more in the skin - Dr not worried at all, i was Hmm so saw another dr, he wasn't worrried either - it went by itself.

Try not to worry, it doesn't sound sinister to me, but yes, it needs checking.

Love mumsnet!
Thanks Lucy for the quick answer, that makes a lot of sense. And am guilty with under wired bras..Still strange its only on one side.Did you get it checked out i.e. scan or they just dismissed it by looking at it?

They just looked at it, it was in the skin - not in the breast tissue itself. Mine was in the side of my breast and i actually think i was bitten by something, i had it a few weeks. But if you have underwire bras then it could have rubbed maybe? Maybe switch to non wired? Still get it checked though.

Hi, I have the same condition. Could please update on what you found out after the doctor's visit? Thank you.

I had this, in my case it was fibrocystic breast disease. Referred to rather unhelpfully as lumpy breast by an awful lot of doctors.

So, essentially, it was just a cyst type growth in my breast crease. Completely benign.

The doctor at the breast clinic did say that lumps and bumps can be caused in that area by poorly fitting underwired bras so since then I have worn decent sports bras instead for daily support and saved the nicer bras for evenings out in a dress etc.

I would second going to see your gp to put your mind at rest.

Also, forgot to mention, your breasts are actually two separate organs so what happens in one is incredibly unlikely to replicate in the other which is why you have a lump on one side only.
