wtf is wrong with me?

Late friday night I started to get a head ache. Started at the back of my head. Really heavy pounding head. Went to bed about 11 and by then I was a bit achey all over.

Woke up yesterday with sore throat (no tonsils if that makes a diff) and same head ache. As the day went on my neck and back got stiffer until I could hardly move upper body. I was thinking start of flu maybe?

Woke up today much the same, al my joints in uper body are extremely stiff, cannot move my neck at all. My head spins everytime I move. It feels like my brain is too big for my head iygwim.

Even blinking makes me feel spaced out. I cant lift my arms and my lower back is agony. Legs aand feet feel fine.

No other cold/flu symtoms. Painkillers not touching my head and I take amitriptilyne (sp) which I thought may help joint/muscle pain but isnt.

Any ideas?

Sorry for spelling mistakes, even typing this is making my head spin.

OK if I'm honest and it was one of my kids I might suspect meningitis, sorry I'm sure that's not what you want to hear. It because a really bad head and stiff neck for me rings alarm bells. What do the people around you think?

At the start of your post I was thinking it was the flu bug I had the other week, but the fact you can't move your neck rings alarm bells for me too.

Ring the OOHs or go to A&E tonight, please. It is better to be safe than sorry.

OK so I'm not alone in my thoughts, please go to a and e tonight. Let us know how you get on. Big un-mn hugs.

Plus, sorry to go on but a rash is often the very last symptom because it signifies that things are progressing to blood poisoning.

Mike
I don't know but honestly - call for help. You shoudn't be feeling so unwell that you can't tpe without feeling sick and dizzy.
Get your mum or call out of hours Dr or get to A&E

I had similar symptoms a few years ago - I ended up being admitted with suspected meningitis (after a while, the pain got so severe I started vomiting). I was in for 5 days in the end and diagnosed with a virus but I'm glad I went. I would seriously suggest you seek medical attention, just to be on the safe side. Is there anyone who can watch your DC?

Stiff joints and painkillers not working are worrying signs.

I'd go to a&e. I hope it's nothing though.

You are doing the right thing by seeking advice but FWIW I had exactly the same symptoms last time I had flu.
Flu shouldn't be underestimated, it can knock you out for days.

I hope it does turn out to be nothing!

Do you have a plan for what happens if they send you to A&E? Do you have friends or family nearby?

I had heart checks when pregnant after sudden chest pain. I had pulled a muscle. Dh tells everyone I went to hospital with a broken bossom.

Feel better Mike x

I went to hospital with sudden chest pain once, too Pagwatch. It turned out I had pulled a muscle doing CPR at a first aid course the day before. I had never felt such relief at feeling so daft!

Hope you feel better soon Mike.xx

Still waiting for call back Hmm

I feel much better if I lay perfectly still with lots of pillows under my neck.

I assume anything really nasty wouldn't be like this?

Another one here who's worried about you. Please chase OOH if they haven't got back to you soon. TBH I'd be thinking about A&E.

Yes you are doing the right thing. I had those symptoms was t meningitis but was viral encephalitis.

Please don't wait for a rash! Anyone who suspects meningitis please don't wait for a rash, I hate that bit of advice. The rash is the onset of septicemia - if you have ANY symptoms/suspect it's something serious please get them checked out at A&E/OOH, the sooner it's seen, the easier it is treated. Don't wait for septicemia before acting.
