DS has a cold (we all have) and as usual he coughs incessentantly for at least the first day and then it subsides. This is the incessant coughing time. I NEVER know if it is asthma or just a cough that anyone would have with a cold. I do all the usual puffs just in case but wondered what you all think?

We're usually told that if it's significantly worse at night than it had been during the day then this is an indication it might be asthma. Can't believe it's a hard and fast rule though. If you're using the inhalers then there's not much more you can do other than to keep an eye on it, is there?

i was told that a classic symtom of asthma in young children is night coughing, my dd used to cough so much she was sick. So i was advised at the slightest coughing to give her the blue one(sorry cant remember what if was called.) She only seemed to suffer in the winter and I am pleased to say hasnt needed her inhaler at all this winter, so fingers crossed she has her checkup soon

Actully it could be an asthma type reaction to a virus without your bub ever developing asthms.
Children can get "childhood asthma". Acondition where their wee immune system causes this inflammitory response in the lungs to viral infections.
It can be treated with normal asthma drugs, brochodiolators and in some cases inhaled steroids, but they usually grow out of it.
