has anyone had anything like this have had it about six weeks ish. its just under the bend at the top of my second finger (i know these all have names but they escape me.

its the same colour as my finger ie not red or anything and is hard its visible but doesnt stand out unless you looked at my finger if you get what i mean.

it can get sore as the lump is tender so touching lots (am constantly checking its still there hasnt grown) it or knocking can be painful.

my question is does this sound like just one of those things we get as we get a little older. i have a lump on my arm that the doctor said was just gristly tissue is possible they can grow on bone as in on my finger.

am loath to make a gp appointment for a small lump am sure they have better things to do but am a little worried.

Is it the hand you write with? I have a permanent lump there, it's just where th pen rests. It gets sore if I do a lot of writing.

A ganglion?

Could it be a wart? They are sometimes not noticeable but can hurt when they are knocked.

I had this, they can give you a hydrocortisone injection to help - mine went away without needing to though, so hopefully yours will too!

I had it about two weeks before going to the doctors - but could have been longer as it wasn't on my writing hand either so I may not have noticed! But I did notice it started to hurt when I knew it was there because I touched it all the time!

I didn't have mine for that long - but it went down about 3-4 weeks after I went to the doctors, so probably around 6 weeks total. The gp just told me that because it wasn't painful or causing any trouble and its likely just because I kept playing with it that it hurt, to come back if it becomes either too painful or got in the way by getting bigger but it just went down - nothing harmful though in my case so if its the same thing I'm sure they'll say the same, nothing to worry about :)

I felt really silly for going about it and only did because my mum had a ganglion that caused her trouble before she got it removed so was worried I had the same - dont feel like a pain for going over a small lump - that's what they're there for and if not for anything else it'll give you peace of mind and they'll be able to help!

I have a lump in the exact same spot and have had it for some time. I realised that it is exactly where my finger rests on the edge of my computer mouse and is a small callous. Maybe yours is the same?
