Tip of nose tissue infection

For eight months, I've had a recurring soft tissue infection on the tip of my nose. It affects the septum and tip, is painful and ranges from tiny spots to actual lumps under the skin. I've tried a penicillin based antibiotic course as well as Fucidic acid cream, then a non-penicillin based course, and none of those have worked. I'm now being prescribed Metronizadole gel. The doctor says it's nothing sinister, just that the infection has "found a place" to come out. Has anyone else had this? I do think it's stress related, as it always appears at time of month and was particularly bad at Christmas, when I was awful stressed. Thanks, ladies.

My dd had similar and the doctor prescribed a cream that was specific for nasal sores which cleared it up quickly. Can't remember the name but sounded a bit noseyish like 'nasepin'.

I've got this now, so really should get some more Bactroban ointment for it. The way I understand it is, that the bacteria that naturally live at the back of my nose have come down the nose and infected an area there. Probably because there's a cut or sore. The ointment always clears it up.

Jestrin and Meg, thank you both so much for answering. You start getting a bit paranoid, and the worst thing you can do is look up symptoms online! Meg, if you do remember the name of that cream, would you mind letting me know? I will keep a note of Bactroban as well. Thanks again. Am relieved now.

Oh, it seems Bactroban is for sores INSIDE the nose? Mine are always on the outside, on the septum or tip.

Hello, I got some more bactroban. Used it for a couple of days and my nose is much better. Hope yours is too!
