Herbal Medicine for extreme PMS - cost!

Hi,

I've realised that I've been suffering from extreme PMS - lots of irrational anger taken out on poor DH, awful remorse, etc. So, a trip to the GP and was offered anti-depressants as an option. As a start I've decided to go down the medical herbalist route as I've heard good things (esp from Mumsnet) about how they can help. However, I've just been to a pretty good sounding herbalist - she seemed to know her stuff but I've been a bit bowled over by the cost.
Nearly £30 for a bottle of herbs that are taken as a tincture (in water). But this only lasts for 2 weeks! And another bottle for £5 (tiny) that should last the same.

Is this what I should be expecting to pay?
I'm keen to explore other options from the anti-depressants (I have nothing against these as know they can work brilliantly but they also can have side
effects) but I'm not sure that this cost is sustainable for us.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Flat out.

I continued to take a tincture weekly for about a year, I think I paid £35 every 3 months at that stage and had a consultation at the same time.

I couldn't put my finger on what it was particularly that helped, but even friends noticed a difference and asked. My GP friend was a bit condescending about Herbal Medicine, but she saw a difference and

You can help pms for free just by adjusting your diet. Cut out all refined sugar and junk. Also cut out caffeine. Trust me, it works Smile
