night pain - worried about cancer?

I have posted before about hip/back pain which I only get at night, have been reffered to muscular/skeletal but am seeing a private physio in the mean time. Although no one seems worried and I am getting lots of help I cant help but worry about cancer. My Gp always said to worry if I ever had pain at night as that wasn't a good sign, but no one has once said that this pain is a reason to worry. While my physio has explained my back problems due to lots of reasons I'm worried that I haven't been checked/ scanned/ whatever for anything serious. I suppose I'm just having a panic. Any advice?

I can't offer much advice apart from to say that every worry is worse in the night when all you can do is focus on the pain. Everything is magnified.

And, this is probably too obvious and I apologise if it is - but is there a chance your bed could be part of the problem?

Hi Sheila
Thanks for posting, I have a few issues with my back and I have to 'soften' up my bed for a while but a lot of issues are because of pregnancies. But its just because it hurts at night that I worry. Night pain is associated with cancer aswell as lots of other things so I panicked. x

Thanks Knackered and Fanjo!
What do you do about your pain?

knackeredoutmum Sun 09-Dec-12 10:12:59

Turn over
Use lots of pillows to support rest of bidy and reduce strsin on spine n hip
Take solubl co codamol but only once a night and not for more than one week consecutively
Feel tired
Save up for new bed

I dont do enough. .I take painkillers. Heat helps. I have degeneration of discs in back so am assuming its linked.

Hi op. I have convinced myself I have bone cancer in my leg due to weird pain mainly at night. Can I reassure you that I spent 3 years trying to get a dx for something, and went round the houses (stress, discs etc) until a private physio disgnosed and cured it (pretty much: I am too lazy to keep up the exercises) - I would be quite confident that yours will be considering all angles.

Oh yes, save up to see a recommended osteopath, this is like a physio but specialising in bone alignment, or a physio
And, f a do about 5 minutes twice a day of core muscle exercises to strengthen stomach and back muscles, after a week or two the pains reduce a bit
