Nan had diabetes they think was caused by steroids, Tiny slight lady so obesity not a factor.

I don't think it bothered her as long as she took her pills and was slightly careful what she ate. She lived to 92.

If you are on steroids, your GP is probably worried about steroid-induced diabetes. It's most likely to be a be a sign your new GP is really good at his stuff.

Yep been on and off it for ten years. Never had a blood test done in all that time.

I saw a doctor who told me the cure for my joint problems and fatigue was to go to a spa for the weekend. He didn't run a single blood test. I saw someone else, who diagnosed me with Rheumatoid Arthritis after abnormal bloods and scans. So, sadly, I am not suprised with what you are saying. Have you been on prednisolone for a long period of time? They told me that if you're on it for longer than a few weeks, checking glucose and other things, is a good idea.

Yep on prednisolone.

I have moved and under a new Dr, my old one never did blood test, the new one seems to think I should have been having them regularly.

Mind you the old one, when telling me that I also had Fibromyalgia, to 'go look it up on the internet'

So maybe I should have been.

Are you on steroids? I had regular glucose tests on prednisolone as it can sometimes induce diabetes?

I have fairly regular diabetes checks as both parents had adult onset diabetes, so wondered if this test was for something different.

Plus a whole stack of blood tests as well again (sigh)

I know the drugs aren't working very well now, and things are getting worse but wasn't sure why the glucose test?
