Dental Implants - abroad

Hi

I recall a post on MN recently where someone was asking if anyone had gone abroad for dental implants. I have searched, but can't find it. Please could anyone with experience either PM me or let me know their story here. Prices, places, type of implant (particularly where a bridge is used) would be very helpful.

Thanks

You will find that the clinics abroad compare their prices with London private prices which are heavily weighted. Check the provincial clinics you may find that you don't have to travel as far as you think.
Make sure you budget for further trips should anything go wrong. You will not be able to get treatment under th NHS should you have complications and it could work out very costly if you have to have it put right by a dentist in this country. If the implants used are not used in this country you will have to go abroad for maintenance.

If you live in the North West of England there is a good value implant centre in Liverpool - was much cheaper than if local dentist had done it but local dentist was involved at certain agreed stages. If you need more info I'll dig out the details from wherever my DH has put them.

I had an implant done at the dentist about 10 years ago (no probs since, touch wood).
But when DH needed one last year (ish) we looked around more as the price had gone up so much, and yes he had it done in Liverpool. Again, no probs since.

It was me asking about implants abroad. I needed two following the demise of a bridge. Eventually I decided to have the work done here at the implant centre in Brighton ( well it is in Hove actually). I was very scared but it was no worse than a root filling and all over quite quickly. I now have temporary crowns and have to go back in April and again 6 weeks after that for it all to be finished. So far I'm very pleased, it cost less than the estimate as I had good amount of bone, even in the gap the bridge originally covered. It was no more expensive than going abroad, even taking into account teh fact I have a very long journey to get there.
