Could this be fibromyalgia?

I'm in a lot of pain a lot of the time :( my shoulders, upper back, neck and knees are so painful at the moment I could just cry. I feel knackered all the time even when I get a good amount of sleep.

The pain in my upper back and shoulders radiates down my arms and up into my head and I sometimes get pins and needles. I have headaches and my head hurts at the base of my skill. It sometimes feels like my neck won't support the weight of my head :(

After talking to a friend she suggested I might have fibromyalgia and told me about the trigger points. I do have pain in most of these points. Feeling really crappy at the moment and really down as I just seem to be so sore all the time :(

Yes it could but it could also be any number of other things too. Go to a doctor and tell them your symptoms and you will probably have some bloods done to rule out thyroid, something viral, anaemia etc. It can take years to get a diagnosis of fibro as there is no real test for it apart from the pressure point test. Even something like depression can have these symptoms. I have fibro and it took nearly 5 years to get a proper diagnosis. Some doctors don't even think its a real thing. Seriously get to the doc and get the ball rolling. They will most likely give you some simple painkillers at first but if that doesn't help unfortunately the only thing that will is to keep going back and badgering them until they send you to a specialist. Don't pin any hope on being diagnosed with anything any time soon. Sadly if it is fibro, its a long road. There's a lot of us on mumsnet so keep posting for support as well. Even if its just for a moan about how shit you're feeling. It can be hard to do that to friends and family even when its really bad as they can't really "get" it unless they have similar issues. Good luck (((hugs)))

Get those blood tests done. Then check the results yourself. You want the numbers plus reference range and want to see
Vit d - over 90
B12 - over 500
Ferritin - high numbers not low in range
Tsh (thyroid) - under 2
t4 - high in range

DFIL seemed to have the symptoms of fibromyalgia, but it turned out to be pernicious anaemia - so definitely get checked out. Smile
