Low blood pressure when I first wake up

Hi, I have a problem with feelig lightheaded in the mornings. I have found out I have low blood pressure when I first wakeup. I am also really thirsty and have to pee straight away, I figure I am dehydrated - which maybe causing the low blood pressure and the light headedness? (I have a big glass of water by my bedside). What could be causing me to get dehydrated every night (it's not alcohol). Have I got some hormone imbalence? My GP says my thryroid tests are normal, my calcium levels are normal I drink a lot during the day and pee a lot. I am also having palpitations, I have been referred to cardiology.

Hi Ted, thanks for the suggestion, is there a way to find out if I am B12 deficent before I start taking it? I'm not vegetarian but I don't eat much meat, only about three times a week.

Your doctor can do a blood test for B12. I have low b12 pernicious anaemia and low blood pressure, but they are independent. I have learned to manage the low blood pressure don't get up to fast etc.
I have been as low as 70 over 40 and actually only hit 120 over 70 when in theatre having my daughter turned for mid presentation with no anaesthetic.

What I'd like to know is how does our body regulate it's need for fluid - if you went 8 hours duing the day you would be thirsty and dehydrated, but most people aren't like that when they wakeup, so what is their body doing to keep them hydrated that my body isn't? During the day I have to drink loads too and I feel that drinks go straight through me - I am always on the loo. I don't have a problem with low bllod pressure during the day.

Have you been under long term stress or other illness etc. It could be adrenal fatigue, one of the symptoms is postural hypotension. Also look up postural orthostatic tackycardia syndrome. (POTS)
The adrenals help regulate BP. It is very complicated but I suffer the same problem. It is worse if I havn't slept I can feel really light headed and weak in the mornings.
I have tried all sorts of supplements with some sucess. Vit B12, Q10, now trying a thyroid support tablet as my thyroid is 'normal' according to the GP but it is the lower side of normal, they won't treat it.
