Having a slight panic. I had some blood tests done yesterday for suspected inflamation in my chest. Was told that results would take a week or so but have just returned home to see that the doc surgery called today. blood was taken yesterday morning. The nurse did say they would call if urgent or if for some reason the needed more blood etc. What I really want to know is what is the chances that the results are back within one day. surgery did not leave a message...

Yes, they could be back that quickly. I've had bloods taken in the morning and a phone call in the afternoon to say there was a problem with them before.

Try not to worry, it could just be that they need to take another sample for some reason.

yes, mine come back within 24 hours routinely, as hospital and GP are on same computer system. Hopefully it's nothing concerning.

Was thankfully nothing serious. Just with the surgery had left a message which would have avoided all the worry.
