Best prep for a general anaesthetic?

I'm torn a ligament in my knee so am having an op as neither physio nor time have been able to sort it out. I'd assumed op would be done under local but it's a general. It's at least 10 years since I've had one so am expecting effects to be greater than last time. Of course they may not be, but there is there anything I can do to minimise after effects of anaesthetic and op. (Am continuing to do leg exercises to build up muscles to help on that front). TIA.

I had surgery a few weeks ago and in a leaflet I got it says to breath in through your nose, filling your lungs, and slowly out through your mouth 3 times every hour. Also to 'huff' your breath out, again every hour. It helps to remove the anaesthetic from your body.

Good luck with your op Smile

There's nothing to do to minimise the effects. Just make sure afterwards to up your fluid intake and to do deep breathing every now and again.
