Piano does sound nice, I agree - but the Saxophone sounds a fab idea. You've got to love a sax, think of all those great sax solos..........

Mind you, they cost a bit. Not much change out of a thousand pounds for the one dd and I were drooling over last week in the music shop!

DIY is going as we'll as I thought it would .
I have emptied the room , cleaning the walls and woodwork , under coated the woodwork , ordered and paid for carpeting , bought and paid for new bed , bought and paid for paint .
All DH has to do is paint the darn thing .

Ooh, 29 - how exciting!

Afternoon all

I play sax MAS it's super fun and pretty easy to play, once you get the correct mouth position. Did you play recorder at school? The fingering is very similar to a descant recorder. I've got some books with backing CDs which are fun to play along with. Piano a good option too - go for it! I will expect a progress report when we meet up next month!

Yay hello - snazzy new thread, - count me in for a party when we hit 30 (I will bring vol au vents and a pineapple and cheese hedgehog, and wear an orange swirly print maxi dress)

Have anti B's for waterworks, - didn't show up as infection but was blood in the wee, so she said with symptoms is sounds like infection and gave me drugs. Feels very sore today - I'm drinking loads to flush things through, but going for a wee is a bit ouch

invicta - not sure about shaving - I'd had chemo so wasn't an issue, but under the arm where I had my rads, the hair has never grown back (saves shaving, so quite handy) but thought I'd let you know in case that happens and you wonder what is going on. Rads can cause hair loss (permanent in my case). I definitely wouldn't shave now that your treatment has started - because your skin will be fragile and you don't want to risk nicking it and getting an infection.

Smee - we had an awful SENco as well, she spent her whole time flirting with DH (OOh where is your lovely accent from? are you Canadian? {puke}) - totally lost on DH of course - he doesn't get flirting, he just thought she was barking She also ate her lunch while she was talking to us because she was 'running late and starving' we did end up with a plan in place for him but only because I basically said I wasn't leaving until something was sorted.

Gig - well done for getting to your appointments - very organized.

MAS - piano would be fun, but I can see you playing a mellow sax too

Ned - well done on your guitar lessons, I bet you'll pick it up really quickly being so musical. Little Ned will want to join in before long

OTM - glad DD has something to help, hope she feels better soon, period pain is rotten.

My dad uses those cds ! I did treble recorder at school and up to grade 2 (!!) I can play stuff by ear on it still which might be helpful and can read music but not actually apply it to the finger holes (I don't think so anyway !) Dad picked up the oboe pretty quickly from having played the flute.

Have walked to town as no rain and am totally wiped out and am having pain in my chest,around the back ribs.I'm assuming this is the lung mets rather than medication as have felt this before starting the drugs.

at Kurri's DH not getting flirting. UTI sounds horrid though.

MAS about the pain. Am guessing the chemo drugs are wiping out your natural resistance to it. Can you take anything for it?

I imagine ibuprofen would be ok

MAS - about the pain, can you ring your BCN or the chemo unit to ask about pain relief?, - don't put up with it, there will be lots of things they could give you to help.

I would take co codamol or paracetamol (check your temp before you take it as can suppress your temperate and hide infection signs). You prob ought to ask about ibuprofen as can hurt stomach so I would be cautious about taking them without a check.

Yum- also do ask about pain as I was told mets make you ill etc but weren't usually associated with pain. But could be wrong.

Yes - Gig makes a very good point about taking your temp. MAS - very important.

MAS, they should have given you a card with a 24 hour number on. If you haven't got one it's worth asking. With mine it was for all queries and gets you through to a chemo ward. If the nurses can't answer, they ask the doctor and they call you back.
