or something. Been having really bad chest pains and am booked in for ecg tomorrow.

Bit worried about it all really. Has anyone got heart problems and how are they managed?

Also I am going to get very smelly cos I've got to have my legs wrapped from ankle to knee in what i gather is a kind of wet medicated bandage, (sort of a cross between a support stocking and a plaster cast) for 1 - 2 weeks cos of my fluid retention and poor circulation ??clot?? Anyone heard of this cos it seems a really odd thing to do to me!

i am glad they are finally checking your heart out. ECG is painless. are you on water tablets? are you weighing yourself daily or doing a fluid chart?

yeah, and it only took total agony and dh frogmarching me back to gp with demands to treat me!

I have been put on different water tablets beginning with f, i think - they are downstairs and i cant be bothered to go look!

I am expecting to get full instructions and info when i go tomorrow.

nah, have decided if i get that much growth, I'll plait and bead it! Make it a feature. You make laugh now, but you'll all be doing it once you see how good i look........

and the f? i think its a longer word. i'll go have a look at some point.

Is it a CHaring Cross bandage they're doing? Or something else? My Dad has charing cross bandages for leg ulcers from time to time. I can't say I've noticed them being particularly smelly. But yours might be something different.

good luck, is it worse because you are now more worried about it? Happened to me 2 years ago.

I have heart problems I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy(hypertrophic)in 1999 It is managed atm with medication I am on disopyramide I think you are on frusemide I have had those in the past but they didn't work for me.The extra fluid in your system including your lungs is probably causing the pain.Do you get breathless or dizzy. It took years for me to find a treatment that worked and I still have the odd problem but a good diet with minmal alcohol and caffeine and lots of rest does work wonders.I have never had my legs wrapped like that so I can't advise you there. When you get a diagnosis let me know I will try and answer any questions. It is a really worrying time for you but there are loads of options these days and they will find the right one for you xx

no purple, I'LL be smelly cos i wont be able to have a bath for a fortnight! cant get them wet, apparently! (and i know i'll have strip washes before anyone goes ewww you dirty cow!, but it wont FEEL clean!)

and yes, i've leg ulcers, well, sort of, little open sores, started off as fluid leaking thru skin and sort of grew and opened up. not pressure sores or anything, but they arent healing at all.

Thanks pindy, you mean your heart? are you ok now?

thanks noddy - that frusemide sounds like it (if not then some very similar sounding word!) only started it yesterday, so i guess i have to give it time. i was on bendrofl - something before, for bp more than anything.

Yes i get very breathless. obviously when active - and i get chest pains then too. but i also suddenly loose my breath for no reason, eg i can be in bed at night and suddenly i am gasping for breath like i have been running!

Anyway, i am sure it will all get sorted, but as the saying goes, misery loves company, it feels a bit less scary when you can talk to people who have experience of similar!

Once the frusemide clears the fluid you will be able to breathe a lot better.I couldn't lie flat in bed at night for years but the new medication has stopped that I very rarely get the sudden onset breathlessness you are describing but I used to so I am proof that it can be sorted I hope you have kind doctors Mine are excellent and have moved heaven and earth to help me Good luck

Ta. I went for the ecg on wed, Dr phoned me today to tell me it is fine, so I asked him what he thought was the cause of my chest pain, and what was the treatment. He was non-committal, but said he would prescribe me a spray. I am to spray this under my tongue when I have pain. Basically, if the pain goes away after using the spray, its my heart, if it doesnt, it isnt.

MTPW this is getting ridiculous, you need to be referred to a cardiologist now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please dont take no for an answer your gp should have sent you to hosp for investigation. Will be on MSN tonight, we need to chat.

It could be a side effecto of the other prescription you are taking!!!!!

Pleas go to a and e if you have further chest pain!!!!!!
