Sleep problems for Mum not child

Hi there,

Just wondering is there any Mums out there who have trouble sleeping. I have three kids and the youngest is 9 months and she is not a great sleeper as she has been ill but when she sleeps I am wired and cannot sleep. I have tryed everything, getting up, staying put, reading, not reading, yoga breathing, not breathing!!!, no coffee, no tea, no choclate, no anything, tryed so many things that I now am so upset that its causing a vicous circle of not being able to sleep. I have tryed herbal teas, tryed kalms night (some success) and when I went to doctor he prescribed sleeping tablets. I was so worried taking them that I only took a 1/2 and then nights I took them my little one was so sick that it was a waste of time taking it and it also made me feel not myself the next day.

I have heard of Zenbev the wonder food for helping stress and sleep. Have any of you heard of it.

Just to let you know also I am fine in every other sense, not depresseed, although I feel I will be if I do not get some decent sleep.

Also as Mum third time round I do realise that you never sleep well with kids, but my love of going to bed is gone as I just cannot get off to slee. Once I can I seem to be able to sleep on and off.

Please tell me there is light!!!!!!!! other than knockout drugs???

Have a good day!!!!!!!!!!

I get into cycles of this. Hate it.
How long has it been going on for you?
Is the baby monitor in your room? (In which case, could you stick it outside, so you don't get woken up by every snuffle?)
When it gets bad here, usually related to someone being ill and me getting into a rut of wakefulness/anxiety, I hand responsibility over to DH for a night, shove in the earplugs and take a half-dose of Herbal Nytol (one night's holiday Smile). That's usually enough to break the cycle.

I went through this and found myself awake sometimes for thirty hours before sleeping for one or two hours. Then back up again and feeling like I was hyper. Decorated the lounge in one day and got loads painting done. Eventually went to docs and turns out I have an over active thyroid. Felt like the duracell bunny. Now I have energy but can sleep usually for eight hours if the kids let me. Might be worth asking your doc for a blood test. I didn't realise at the time, only looking back on pictures that I had a big lump in my neck called a goitre. Could just be stress on your part but my thyroid malfunctioned after pregnancy and it took me about eight months to discover the cause.

As a long shot - you don't happen to have Mirena fitted do you? I had a nightmare trying to sleep when I had mine in.

Hi there,

No I havent a Mirena fitted. I am writing this morning after having a few nights sleep . I have started getting out to do a walk everyday, started yoga and I have been taking a drink of Zenbev at night. All in all I have started to relax more and it has helped. Its staggering the amount of us that are going around like zombies and its only when you chat to others you realise that your not the only one not getting those 8 hours.
Have a good day!
