I've just taken 1x 250mg of Naproxen, I don't take them very often just during bad pain moments. Anyway, i had a bowl of cereal before I took it as they are an anti inflammatory, BUT I now have the most awful pains , like a really sharp stabby pain in ym tummy. I cannot remember now if I got this the last time I took them. Does anyone else take it and get pains and if so what can shift it

Hi salt. I took naproxen a couple of years ago, it was for My knee, I took it for just over a week, like you I took it on a full stomach, and like you I suffered horrible stomach pains. Anyway it hepled My knee, but left me with acid reflux, it was such a strong anti-inflammatory that it ruined the lining of my stomach. I can no longer take anykind of anti inflammatory tabs anymore, as my stomach cannot take them. I am on lanzaparole for my acid reflux.

I find I need omeprazole to take them. If I take a break I start on the omeprazole for a couple of days first before going back on them.

What you need really is some fat in your tummy to "line" it and protect the gastric lining so cereal is only good if you had full fat milk with it and a proper meal is better. Having said that it is not always enough and it is often taken with Omeprazole or Lansoprazole

i took them for sciatica last year and this same thing happened to me. i went to the doctor and they gave me omeprazole to take along with it. they said that naproxen can do something to the lining of your stomach and the omeprazole helps with this.

I took Naproxen twice a day for 2 months for arthritis and I also took Omeprazole in the mornings. After 2 months I started getting a lot of stomach pain and acid reflux and my doctor told me to stop taking them. So even combined with Omeprazole you can still have problems. I do have a friend who takes it with no problems at all though.

I ahve omeprazole, which I take in "blocks" for flare ups of acid reflux. I might try taking it at night when I take the Naproxen, but to b ehonest after last night I don't think I want to take it again.
