Herpes or Thrush that is the question or something else???

Blah...... a bit of background about 6-8 weeks ago I went to the doctors for swollen glands in my neck, was told swollen glands - viral or glandular fever (but didn't do blood test). Off and on since then I have had a really badly swollen throat since 28th its just been the right side of my throat.

Anway to my initial question last week or so I've had a bit of discomfort going for a wee warning tmi coming up - and just not feeling comfy at all! last night I had a look down there and had 2 what looks like blisters.

This morning in the bath I looked at my left breast and I have what looks like a cold sore on the outside of the nipple Aereloa (SP).

Now I've only been with my husband for the last 12.5yrs so no hanky panky away from home, hubby the same, he does suffer from coldsores, but last time we had sex he didn't have one - having looked at this on the net it is possible to get the simplex herpes virus when the other person doesn't have one currently...

The throat is throwing me out if it is herpes or not......

First day the doctors will be open tomorrow and there is no way I'm seeing the male doctor so this means I'll probably have to wait till later in the week to see my female doctor (NOT looking forward to it) - any suggestions?

Does it sound like Herpes or Thrush?

If so what is the best way to get some comfort? Out of all of it my throat is the most painful, breast is Itchy, and neither regions are just uncomfy especially when going to the toilet....

I know I have to get to the doctors but until I can looking for any advise!

I've never had either before which isn't helping and NHS Direct were no real help, just said get to the doctor....

Thanks in advanced!

Depending on where you live, could you get an appointment at a GUM clinic sooner than seeing your GP?

If you've got blisters it's not thrush. That doesn't mean it's herpes but I don't know what else it could be. Some people shed virus when they don't have an active cold sore, but not so much as when they do.

Thanks - hubby hasn't had a coldsore for at least 6 months! Which is why its thrown me...

Defo blisters - Blush I tried looking for a GUM clinic but the NHS Direct website is shockingly bad for it comes up with all the chemist that do the chalymida (SP) test so takes ages to find! I'll keep trawling through to try to find one.... not what i need going back to work tomorrow Sad

I know this may be a wild stab in the dark but when I am run down eg sore throat, cough, cold I get Impetigo which is blisterey and very contagious unless you know you have it.

I wouldn't look on the NHS Direct website either - look on the website for your local PCT/health authority under Sexual Health Service or Google 'GUM clinic where you live' - that works far better where I live than the NHS Direct website could ever dream of :) Good luck!

There is cream but I think you have to have a prescription - fucidin- and it can look different in [ahem] other areas. Oh and don't touch it it's very contagious

Could be a strep infection. Are the blisters where you have shaved at all?

Why not just pluck up the courage to see male doc. I wouldn't leave it a week tbh. All he will do is swab it at worst, and will prob give you anti-biotics. I thought a sore throat could be linked to a bladder infection, as you say though, doesn't explain the blistering. Good luck. I have had similar and was convinced I had something sinister, but it was just infection, no throat though.

There are quite a lot of causes of genital ulcers that are not STDs, although doctors often jump to the conclusion that they must always be herpes. You can buy vaginal cream with local anaesthetic (lignocaine) in it at the chemist. That won't cure anything but will make it more comfortable until you get to the doctor. If peeing is really painful then it can help to pee in the bath, like if you have damage down there after birth. Hope you feel better soon.

Could it be shingles? I know it follows nerve endings, so I don't know if the sites you mention would be right, but you get cold sore type blisters with shingles. Also could impetigo be a possibility?
Definitely need to see your GP.

Are we going to find out what they think the mystery sores are? Looking forward to finding out whether your dh has managed to pass coldsores onto your nipples and genitals (and throat?!) and missed your mouth altogether.

Not really got much advice. But with your throat i suggest DIFFLAM Spray, which really did help me when i had a throat infection ( think dying, couldnt shout, tried to and a squeak came out which didnt sound like me, couldnt move, all my body ached and ended up down the hospital with it, on antibiotics and throwing up chronically), but that really did help me. If you have a dry sore on your breast area, a little emollient might help (such as e45) to reduce itchiness, but otherwise make a doctors appointment! x
