Hip impingement

After a lot of pain in pregnancy, set down as pelvic girdle pain, and continuing hip pain, my physio has diagnosed a hip impingement. The symptoms seem to fit. Has anyone ever had this or know anything about it? I've googled but would be really interested in personal experiences.

I still have hip/pelvic problems post pregnancy but my orthopaedic surgeon thinks its tears in the soft tissue. I've just googled yours to see if it compares as im not convinced but i had xrays so it would have shown.

Would that be a labal tear, Harriet? They seem to result from impingements.

Don't know. They want me to have an MRI

Hip impingement can lead to labral tear, but equally a labral tear does not have to be related to impingemnet. MRI will show up more info.

I'm not sure that a physio can actually diagnose an impingement? They could suspect it, but I think you will need to see a doc, have an x-ray and very poss an MRI to make a proper diagnosis.

DH and I both have labral tears, coincidentally. Worsened/ caused by too much karate for both of us. Diagnosed through arthroscopy/ MRI. He has impingement but I don't. I was due for surgery but became pregnant. SPD was horrendous but symptoms from tear practically nil now we no longer have time to devote to exercise. Neither of us are considering surgery now as the recovery time is long.

I don't want surgery ( plus they said it's not a guaranteed fix)

They said mines been caused by the SPD ( which I still have too)
