Sore throat

I was just wondering when people would go to the doctor for a sore throat? It started last Friday, got really bad on Saturday and I also had a very high temperature and vomiting.

Temperature came down by Sunday night and I've had some mild cold symptoms. But the throat has been very sore throughout this whole period, and seems to have got worse again this morning and my voice is going.

I'm not sure if going to the doctor is worth it as I know it's just a virus and since I'm breastfeeding I doubt I can take much anyway. But this is the longest time I've had such a sore throat.

Oh, and any tips on how to entertain a 7 month old without talking or singing to them? I foresee a long day ahead.

I think I've been in the past after a week and a half. I'd literally explored every option available to me in terms of easing the pain and nothing was working so GP gave me a prescription for some codeine. Nothing he could give me to treat it and I knew that and that wasn't why I went to see him, I just wanted some relief from the pain.

What exactly would you want from your GP? If it's a cold, which it sounds like, there's nothing he can do and he'd probably just tell you to get yourself to the pharmacy which I'm sure you've done already. Have you tried gargling with disolvable aspirin? That's meant to help although I didn't personally find it particularly helpful. Plain paracetamol is good for a sore throat too.

Hope you feel better soon.
