swollen wrist joint

Think it is the joint, the bulgy bit on my right wrist is swollen and really, really painful. I have no idea why. Started Tuesday morning when i woke up and was not too bad but woke up this morning and it is very stiff and i can't turn it to the left at all. I can lean back on it but it is very painful to touch. What the hell is it?

Haven't been doing anything different or strenuous recently so i can't understand why it has suddenly started to hurt. If i turn it to the left by accident it really takes my breath away. Took paracetamol this morning and we have been out all day and it is no better - although the tablets did ease the pain. Sorry this is long but i don't know whether to wait for a few days or bother the doctor.

Ibuprofen will be better than paracetemol as it will treat the inflammation rather than just the pain. I suspect a GP would suggest a few days of ibuprofen before any further examination if it truly is spontaneous swelling/pain rather than injury.

But at the end of the day only you know how painful it truly is and you should see a doctor immediately if it's really bad.

Thanks Barbara. I know Ibuprofen would be better but it gives me a terrible tummy ache so i avoid it.

Oh rats, that's no good then Sad

Anti-inflammatories would be the way to go drugs-wise. But they do generally have the same side affect of stomach irritiation AFAIK. Still your GP could maybe prescribe something to protect the stomach at the same time (I have Omprazole (sp) prescribed for that on my current drug regime).

Hoping you recover without needing that though. Smile
