Bunion surgery - tell me about it esp if you are a runner

I have noticed the beginning of a bunion. I am pretty sure I will end up having to have surgery. I run a couple of times a week - nothing hardcore just half hour to an hour. I NEVER want to give up running so need to hear positive stories. And negative I guess too....
