Period after birth

I have a 5mo baby and I had my first period (intense) a month ago (more or less). A couple of weeks later I had blood drops but not actual period. BUt then it just dissappeared. Should I be worried? I have just booked an appointment with the GP to get a bit of info on how often you can have your periods back. I want to know if after being quite regular with them, they ciould get irregular after the birth.

I am not breastfeeding as I never could so despite I'm quite skinny, I didn't lose the weight I wanted to lose. Last night I told my husband I feel fat (although I think I'm not). He said I'm worring too much. :)

The thing is, what if I'm pregnant again? We were very careful when we decided to start having our sexual life back (and it's not like we have ti everyday as it's difficult) but you never know with these things. Probably because I didn't write the date of the period down, I'm consfused as when it came...but i'm panicking!

Did this happened to anyone? Having the period and then having just a very tiny bit of bleeding that goes away? Probably hormones adjusting?

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!

As you're not bfing I'm not sure. If I were you I would take a pregnancy test to rule that out. If you're not pg then go to your GP and mention that you've had a mid-cycle bleed. Personally after doing a pg test, if were negative I would leave things for a couple of months to see what happens and if the odd bleeds still occur then I would go to the GP. Try taking evening primrose oil, it helps regularise things.

MockingbirdsNotForSale Thanks a lot. I did a test and it was negative...my husband laughed. He is very sweet...and said to me: you're panicking...your whole system must be adjusting...just go to the doctor and talk to them about it.

Thanks a lot - I will try the oil!! you get it in pharmacies?

Yes, in capsules. Well done for taking the test!

I was in similar position to you. Relieved when all ok. It takes up to a year after giving birth for your hormones to stablise. I wouldn't worry, but make a note when next bleed happens so if things continue to worry you, you can tell the doc whats going on. Good luck.

Yes, I will ThatllDoPig. THanks ladies.
I went to the doctor today and he said not to worry. It's a mixture of, yes, hormonos stabilisation and tiredness as LO doens't sleep well and I guess it affects me. I try to get him to sleep through the night but there is no good result.

Anyway, all good and happiness!!!

thanks ladies!

Enjoy it Corinne! Everyone is different. If you are keen for periods to come back try taking regular evening primrose oil.

Yes Corinne... it might take a while. I was worried about being pregnant because I was having short bleedings and it was very mild... but today I had full period so that is a relief!

I think i have been so tired I never penciled down when my first period came (must have been a month ago). My baby was 4 months.
