Painful knees

My knees have been really sore now for quite a few months - had DS2 last november and before then they seemed fine. The left knee is worst with a e pain in the back as well as the joint. They are most painful when I get up from crouching - they just feel really sore. I'm in good health my otherwise and normal (ish) weight. The only problem I've ever had with knees otherwise is as a child 30+ years ago when I had osteochondritis(sp?) in my right knee - I was told it was a hairline fracture in the knee cap caused by growing too quick (not sure if thats true!). Anyway my sore knees are really getting me down - any ideas as to what it is greatly welcome.

Go and see your GP and possibly get referred for physio. In my experience as someone who's had knee problems for 30 odd years, unless you keep up physio religiously there's not a lot you can do. When I walk upstairs it sounds like bubble wrap being popped in my knees. Being fitter generally helps with all joint issues I think - well for me it does.

Thanks - I prob should go to the GP - just trying to avoid it if I can!. I try to keep fit'ish mainly by walking (normally with DS2 in pram/sling), but I guess there is prob room for improvement.

cycling is meant to be good for knees. Low impact but with lots of movement and it strengthens the muscles that support the knee joints.
