Think i've done a disc in my lower back any tips?

I can't stand up straight - leaning to the right to ease the pain as standing straight is agony.

I can't bend forwards at all

Sitting hurts

My DP did a disc earlier in the year in the same spot and had the exact same thing only he had sciatica that ran down to his foot along with it. Luckily i've not got that but all the rest is identical :(

Is there anything I can do to prevent it getting as bad as my DP's did? I don't want to get to the stage of having nerve pain as there is nothing worse! Thank you in advance.

Take some ibuprofen to reduce inflammation. Cocodamol as well is good for back pain (can be alternated with ibuprofen). Then go to your gp and ask for a referral for physiotherapy.

I damaged the joint between my spine and pelvis recently. It was agony but the physio really helped.

Hope you're not in too much pain for the weekend.

Forgot to mention, I was told that if you find weeing becomes difficult or you have a numb groin area then go to a and e, because these are danger signs for your spinal cord.

Go to GP but if he/she says there's not much wrong go to an osteopath as they can work wonders. I speak as someone who's had back pain every 18 months or so for 30 years. Drs can't do much unless its serious, but osteos help a lot.

Think the general advice is take painkillers as needed and do what you can "within the limits of your pain" movement-wise (ie keep moving, don't lie flat as they used to recommend). As said above any numbness or loss of bladder or bowel control, straight to hospital.

Remember you can take paracetamol or co-codamol as well as ibuprofen if you need to.

If it is a slipped or ruptured disc it is just a matter of waiting till it resolves itself but physio is supposed to reduce the time it takes.

Go and see a Chiropractor.

I've just come home and the one I saw was really good. While i've had no immediate relief she's confirmed (without additional cost of an xray) my suspicsions in that I have bust a disc so treatment has started, but slowly which is good. I've got exercises to do, been told to apply ice to the area and then she'll do the rest with each appointment.

Best thing with backs is to get seen sooner rather than later. She made me laugh with how grateful she was that I've gone in 3 days post injury and not 3 months like most people, should make it easier to treat. Keeping everything crossed!!
