I have a tens machine; it's fun but is it better than pain?

I have to use it for up to 2 hrs 3 or 4 times a day

It does feel nice, I think

I guess I'm not sure what to expect

With a tens, you do need to fiddle round with the patch positions and settings for the best effect - when it is working you do notice the pain reduction.

Alas, I then feel the tens for hours after which is a function of my CRPS, so not v good for me

OK, thanks

I did wonder if it was a bit high

KatyMac Thu 14-Jul-11 22:36:29

How long does it take to work?

CMOTdibbler Fri 15-Jul-11 00:17:26

Half an hour or less ime.

Theres a v good book my physio recommended on getting the best out of tens - she lent me one, but it isn't v expensive - here

I had one and I hated it - it made me irritable and really miserable. Whipped it off at 5cm dilated and never seen it since. Hideous thing.

I adore my TENS machine. I've got a really duff back and find it helps a lot more than drugs.
It does take some adjusting till you find the setting that works for you.
Persevere.

Is it cumulative?

I mean I put it on now & I don't have my early morning pain (esp feet) everything i still quite stiff but definitely not as painful

Maybe I should have put it on before I got up

I think it should be lower, I might try that later

I don't think it has a cumulative effect. I generally put mine on once I've got a lot of pain rather than as it develops [thick]

It's not 2 hrs it's 2hrs 3 or 4 times a day <gulp>

It is helping; I'm scared I will be allergic to the sticky bits

KatyMac Sun 17-Jul-11 21:09:38

I am not allergic to the sticky bits (although I get a mark after 2 hrs)

It 'seems' to be doing something, but it is quite annoying esp the wires

God yes; that would be great

I need to buy one I think; this one needs to go back to the physio
