I had the expected pain on insertion and cramps for a few days afterwards, then the cramps were more up and down as opposed to constant. There have been times where I've had to lie down and couldn't move for half an hour as it hurt so much Confused . This seemed to be dying down but got another bad bout of cramping this morning that meant I struggled to walk back to the car from town even on a full dose of nurofen Shock . I think it could be one of 2 things:

  1. I have IBS and maybe coil triggers cramps or vice versa
  2. I've noticed the bad cramps are always after lifting something or dashing about - maybe doing this irritates the uterus which causes the cramps

[clutching at straws] just desperate to know if this is normal or not and if anyone had anything similar and what it was due to and how long it lasted?

go back get it sorted, you sound as if you are really suffering, cramps are normal for about three days after that you shouldn't feel a thing, don't suffer book an appointment now as an emergency if you have to, good luck

have it checked. Now.

I had constant bleeding for 5 weeks then decided to have it checked- and it was half fallen out. had it removed there and then.

Shock really? I've got a 6 week check up so was going to leave it until then. I did see my gp 3 days after having it done and she felt about and said it felt like it was all ok. It's not really bad EVERY day - maybe it's been cringing bad cramps 3 or 4 times only and background cramps alot more Hmm . I will try and leave it until monday as have a hosp apt tomorrow I've been waiting for months for taking up the whole morning and no childcare in the afternoon and don't want to take DD unless I have to. Is that irresponsible? I've been waiting this long with cramps.....

ameliagrey could you feel the strings as normal or was there no way you could tell it was half out?
