Mystery Rib Pain, what could it be?

Dull ache both sides of back, just above the waist at bottom of ribcage- starting over a year ago before I was pregnant.

After DD was born, this changed to a sharper pain- not unbearable, just nagging in the same area.

Now, 7months later the pain is still there, on and off, and one of my ribs at the front is protruding and tender.

Nothing in bloods test that GP has ordered- no markers of inflammation and negative for autoimmune disorders.

Have you had an x-ray? I recently had a CT after an x-ray as ribs showed an abnornality on x-ray, turns out I have an extra bit of bone between 5th and 6th ribs, like a bridge between the two, hence the pain and stiffness, been given physio, nothing they can do about it, been there since birth! And after 2 children and getting older it got worse. But good to know what it is, ask for an x-ray.

Thanks for response. GP isn't being v. helpful. I would have thought an x-ray would be justified especially as I've had issues with joints in the past.

Maybe it would be worth paying for a private x-ray.

I know you're right. They're a difficult bunch though. You go in with a leg hanging off and they try and tell you it's because you've just had a baby or you're stressed at work. Hmm

I know, was at the docs today again as GP buggered up prescription for Ds, told it would be renewed at some point in the day, I then picked up wheezing DS aged 4 and said he was having trouble breathing and needed the steriods ASAP, she she got off her ass and got the new one!

I know they are busy blah blah blah but was hardly making a fuss about hemaroid cream it was a real issue, did get hot and fairly sweaty having to be so demanding!
