I think you're right to go to your GP - it doesn't sound like they're going to make you feel much worse - and if they're not sympathetic make an appointment for a different GP at the surgery. I've previously been diagnosed with depression, and when you find someone who takes you seriously, it can make a big difference. If you have a health visitor they may also be able to put you in touch with support for dealing with the kids.

Go and have a damn good cry at the GP. Take tissues with you. The longer you put it off, the worse you will feel. GO NOW.
Life is hard at times-you are not alone to feel like this. The GP will have seen it all before, believe me.
Stay on this thread and talk to us.
Book that appointment. It's exactly what they are there for.

haven't done it. i have a week off work as 1/2 term and i work term time only. I think I Thought I would see how I go. But really I think I should go to GP anyway as I'm going to be no better by end of week. I'm feeling like I just can't face talking to my Gp about this. He's really nice so thats not the problem. Just can't face a possible unsupportive response. he will be supportive won't he
