Any tips?

I'm taking paracetamol alternated with soluble aspirin.

When I woke this morning, my uvula was so swollen I thought at first I had something stuck in my throat.

Just feel wretched.

Poor you. I used to get it lots. Alternating paracetamol and aspirin is good to keep your temp down. Gargling with the soluble aspirin (before you drink it) or salt water is good too. Hope you've also got some antibiotics from the GP if you need them. Hope you feel better soon.

Ugh tonsilitis is hideous, i really feel for you.

Last time i had it my uluva (if that is the right name for the dangly thing at the back of your throat?!) was SO swollen i was panicking. And then i was sick twice and it kept blocking the back of my throat. Absolutely awful i hope you get well soon.

I couldn't do anything except sip cooled boiled water and rest. Definately get the antibiotics!!

I have this too, feels like i been eating knives and very swollen throat, also aches over body. I asked for GP app and ended up seeing a nurse practitioner who said oh its just viral so not antibiotics for me despite white bits on my tonsils.

Gheko - I think she's wrong, if you've got pustules on your tonsils - I think that's bacterial. If you're not feeling better tomorrow, see a GP. I'm not an expert, just had tonsilitis about 15 times.

Thanks for all of your advice.

I feel a bit better in myself today (body not aching so much) but the throat is still very sore. I can't see any pustules though. I did have strep throat about a year ago and ended up with antibiotics, but I'm hoping this will go by itself. I had flu with a bad chect infection earlier this year and had about three lots of ABs then, so REALLY don't want any more!

I agree with you vivi, white bits on your tonsils usually means bacterial I think. Apparently though, GPs aren't keen to give ABs even for bacterial throat infections these days, as the body should be ble to fight it off naturally.

Yup ended up at GDOCS today and got antibiotics lol, still feel poop and still got the aches, its almost like a mini flu kinda thing. Hope you feeling better mlm, i had the flu earlier this year too and was beginning to resemble an antibiotic.

Glad you got sorted ghekogiddy and hope you feel better soon.

I thought I felt a bit better yesterday although my throat was still bad, but then Inoticed that I DO have white spots on my tonsils and have been feeling rubbish again today. It is exactly like the mini flu that you describe.

I have a GP appt on Monday morning to discuss another matter altogether, but looks like I may have to add this to the list and perhaps get ABs after all. Boo.

Get yourself some hydrogen peroxide - follow instructions about how to use as mouthwash and gargle - will be near gone if you gargle every few hours for the next 24 without having to resort to pills from the doctor.

Mine's feeling a bit better today and I'm feeling less 'off' too.

I gargled with TCP a couple of times yesterday (I'd been avoiding it as it's so unpleasant, but I do think it helps). I've still got the yellow spots on my tonsils, but not bothering me so much as they were :)

Just to update, I saw GP this morning about another matter, but told her about my throat too as it's still very sore and has spots on and I still have head and sinus pain. Anyway, she has given me ABs which despite not wantin to, I have started taking as I just want to be rid of it now. Hope yours is getting better gheko
