Hello, for the last few months I have a strange spot on my right thigh. It's grown quite a lot in the last few months (though is still only small) and changes from red to brown etc.
Two GP's in my surgery have had a look and told me it's "just a spot" however my faith in them, over my son's illness, is not as good as it could be and I'm concerned that they might be wrong.
Is there anywhere I can get this looked at other than the GP?
TIA

I think there are private "Mole clinics"? Some branches of Boots have them I think.

Could you take some photos to show GP the changes?

Is it itchy or sore? Does it only go red when you've been fiddling with it?
If it's generally inert (but perhpas growing), have a google of molluscum contagiosum.

Hi, thanks for the replies.
It is round and not irregular and I can't say definitely whether it's actually it that has been itchy or just within that region.
I'm googling silkstalkings suggestion (thank you) and will also look in to the Boots clinics.

Thanks

If it does turn out to be molluscum, make sure you ask your DP to check himself too as it is contagious skin-to-skin. I managed to catch it when treating my 4yr old son, v embarrassing as it ended up down in the bikini areaBlush. DS's went just with an essential oil mix but no such luck for me. I had to go to STD clinic and get them zapped with liquid nitrogen a couple of times! The nurses there are a good laugh thoughGrin.

Good luck.

molluscum normally has a waxy like plug in the centre and initially looks like warts or tapioca
