sore mouth & lost my sense of taste

... has anybody else been suffering from this? A friend had similar symptoms before me (she's better now, lucky thing), and I seem to have passed it onto somebody else, but we're all in the dark as to what it is.

It started off by feeling as if I'd burnt my mouth for a few days, and I completely lost my sense of taste, then over a couple of weeks it stopped being sore and my taste buds started to come back, but now they appear to have gone again. Don't really want to bother the doctor as I don't feel ill, but it's very annoying!

Anyone have a clue what might be going on? I did have a cold around the time that it first started, but I don't any more. And I've been knocking back vitamins as I wondered if it might be some sort of vitamin deficiency.

Your sense of taste comes from being able to smell, so if you have a blocked nose you can't really taste stuff. You mouth only does basic sweet/sour/salty/sweet tastes. As far as the burnt mouth feeling and sore mouth when you have a viral cold often glands will come up in your mouth and on your tongue and make it feels sore but I have no explanation for the burnt sensation unless you had visible blisters which can be caused by some viruses. Sorry not much help.
