Dd1 has excema and this morning a strange rash on her lower leg like a scald. This evening getting her ready for bed there are 3 more on her leg that now look like giant ringworm, but not scaly, red around the outside and white in the middle. she has a scaldy looking one coming up on her arm. They are not sore or itchy.

I have been on to NHS direct and am following their advice, she has had calpol for a temp of 39.6 and we are monitoring her at the mo.

Just a question really, have any of you seen this with your children, is it a viral rash?

She has a really bad cough at the moment that she has had for the past week.

Apart from the cough and the rash and the temp she is very well in herself and was dancing and singing around the kitchen an hour ago.

She is 3

Could it be the start of Pityriasis Rosacea?

Thanks stomp, Doctor today and it's a parvo virus. Calpola and rest.

Hope your DD feels better soon.

(BTW pityriasis rosea often starts on the small of the back. There is often a "herald patch" with PR which spreads on the back and it can also spread onto the stomach. PR is a small oval shaped rash).

as a chronic sufferer from parvo virus. it normally manifests itself with a hot slapped cheek effect. hence parvos other name...slapped cheek
