Hi, myself, DH & DS (6 Months) are dur to go to spain in 6 weeks and I need to sort out travel insurance, I've never bothered who I've booked it with before, however because ds is so young I want to make sure i get good cover. Can anyone recommend a company who they have used and are good for children.

Many Thanks

I used Tesco as we all have pre-exising conditions (not the cheapest but covered us for our alsorted problems)

remember an e111 covers you for health emergencies and is actually a lot easier to claim on than insurance.

in europe all insurance actually does is cover you for baggage loss and for emergency extra flights. some cover you for late cancellations too. and they're all much of a muchness imo.

(what I mean to say is - get an e111 anyway)

so as long as I get the E111 it doesn't really matter who I choose for insurance??

The RAC were good for us. I was trying to sort out pre-existing conditions, and RAC said "That isn't a prob - no extra, noted we told them"

Oher companies were very expensive - especially Europassistance, who quote the cheapest but want to know if anyone has been to Docs in last 2 yrs. Wanted to add £27 for DS who broke his leg 23 months ago!!!!!!

Post Office also good for cheap cover.

If you don't have an E111, and then have a medical claim, your travel insurance won't pay for what the E111 would have covered if you'd had it. So get it! You can download the forms here (scroll down) - one CM1, for all 3 of you, and 3 E111s - take them to the PO to be stamped, and make sure you tick the box for a European Health Insurance card to be sent to all of you later in the year.
