I work for 50 weeks a year.

I have a week in August (booked Southwold)

And a week (or just over) in December from 24th til the day before they go back to school 2nd (Tues - I think)

Would like reasonably warm, prepared to spend a bit

canaries? you don't want to go anywhere long haul and involving jet lag for just over a week, I don't think.

KatyMac Sat 09-Jul-05 23:44:33

We have been there twice and will go again - just wondered if there was anything else

DD wants to go to Africa - but I worry about the injections (not having them - but is it necessary to have them if we don't need to??)

DH wants a cruise in Jamaica

Everything I look at is booked

KatyMac Sat 09-Jul-05 23:58:55

I want to pay someone to do all the crap "find a holiday" stuff for me - it is absolutely cr*p

Blu Sun 10-Jul-05 00:01:34

South Africa? Long flight, but no jet lag.

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 00:02:34

Would that be a good place to go with DH - Jamaican?

Or am I paranoid and sad

Blu Sun 10-Jul-05 00:12:12

I think that's a good q to ask - and I don't know the answer as it's my brother who went, not me. But there has been a lot of tourism there in recent years.

Mauritius? Long flight, 4 hour time difference, very relaxed...v hot in Dec.

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 00:13:46

OOO I could facy that.....I'll go and look - it'll be gatwick tho' won't it

Blu Sun 10-Jul-05 00:17:17

More likely Heathrow. I think only BA, Air France and something like emirates go from the U.K
Are you looking for Stansted, preferably?

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 00:18:27

Norwich ideally - but Stansted/Luton/Heathrow would do......Gatwick is a nightmare

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 00:31:51

I think I'll go to bed and start again tomorrow

MaryP0p1 Sun 10-Jul-05 08:21:02

Italy's lovely and there are flights from Standsted

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 09:06:29

How warm is Italy in December?

seb1 Sun 10-Jul-05 09:27:06

What about Dubai?

FIMAC1 Sun 10-Jul-05 09:36:52

Florida? Sanibel and Captiva are superb, if not recommend Gulf coast of Florida generally or the Keys

toria77 Sun 10-Jul-05 09:42:51

Cyprus will be very hot- some gorgeous beaches and lovely hotels- can recommend some if you like!!

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 18:54:42

Don't know anything about Dubai

Cyprus doesn't seem very warm

Eygpt has also been suggested

Hadn't thought of Florida

I hate choosing a holiday

NotQuiteCockney Sun 10-Jul-05 19:04:15

I've been to Cyprus in January, it was 20-25C I think. We really really loved it. Great food, very safe, nice beaches. But it's not right for you at that time of year if you want somewhere very hot.

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 19:08:29

On the BBC weather bit it says about 15.....hmmmm more investigation needed

MrsDoolittle Sun 10-Jul-05 19:11:30

Depends on what you are into.

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 19:13:42

Find tenerife very british

MrsDoolittle Sun 10-Jul-05 19:19:38

Mauritius - very romantic
Zanzibar - beautiful too

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 19:24:11

Love the idea of Zanzibar - but don't fancy giving DD all that medication

I'll have a look at Mauritius

MrsDoolittle Sun 10-Jul-05 19:30:56

The Galapagos??

KatyMac Sun 10-Jul-05 19:41:18

The more I read about it the more I fancy Mauritius - but I can't find a co that will discuss avail in Dec.....botheration

It's also a long way to go - there's jetlag to consider.......
